Some people know me as a former Fortune 50 executive, others know me as a leadership consultant, entrepreneur and co-founder of CAPs, LLC (www.collegiateassessment.com). Others still, know me as the proud father of two awesome teenagers and movie lover. However you came about this page, I am excited that you are here!
I mostly see myself as working hard everyday to be the person my dog Holly thinks I am.
Regardless of the hat I am wearing when people come to know me, a common theme in my work and life is the belief that God created each one of us with unique gifts and abilities. My focus is on helping individuals fully use their talent and abilities and create an extraordinary career doing what they love.
I have been blessed to have had many amazing jobs during the first 25 years of my career. I look forward to what lies ahead for the next 25 years.
A little more about me
My wife Pam and I were married in 1996 and we share our lives with a two amazing kids – Arthur and Rachel. Also in the mix are Holly the German Shepard and Piggy the Guinea Pig. We have lived in every region of the US and spent a few years in Europe. We call Chicago home now.
Some of my work
I spent 20 years as an executive in the oil industry. I worked for both Exxon-Mobil (it was only Mobil at the time) and BP plc. I also co-founded Collegiate Assessment Partners (CAPs) with longtime friend and colleague Dr. Bill Bommer (www.collegiateassessment.com). Bill is a nationally recognized authority and researcher in the field of management, specifically leadership. He also teaches the next generation of leaders at Fresno State University. Our start up company provides leadership skills assessment and development to university students.
My personal mission in life is to help people create extraordinary, passion filled careers and empower leaders to create organizations that allow people to develop to their full potential.
Speaking and consulting
I enjoying working with individuals, leaders and organizations that are committed to developing their full potential. Each year I present and consult at universities and with a variety of corporations. On stage I am best known for expertise in leadership, career development, communication and influence. I also do a large amount of executive coaching and work with leaders to help them develop personally and better lead the organizations they are privileged to lead.
